Rip-offs, free credit reports
For $179 a year you can have Experian, who owns freedreditreport.com, monitor you credit report. Monitor what?
That is not free. By law, Americans can receive a free credit report once a year. The federal trade commision has a website for consumers to request their yearly credit report from all three credit reporting agencies. www.anualcreditreport.com
Funny how Experian can get away with false and misleading advertising. If you have any questions about this check with the BBB and over 11,000 complaints.
Why do we as Americans have to pay for information that is OUR personal business?
For more information on this please visit CNN/Money at http://money.cnn.com/galleries/2010/news/1001/gallery.americas_biggest_ripoffs/3.html

Wireless minute scam
After reviewing charges that were made on a pay-as-you-go phone plan, I decided to check on the time and the charge associated with this.
On the phone it said the time of the call was 1:47. So knowing the phone company round UP to the minute, I should have been charged for 2 minutes. I was charged for 3 minutes. Huh? Where did the extra minute come into play?
So I logged online to check the account and sure enough, I was charged for 3 minutes and the time stamp online was 2:11. I called customer service , which I might add took me over 15 minutes to find a phone number to call on the wireless site.
After making the call, I spoke to a lovely Supervisor and explained my distress over the difference in the time of the call. At first I was instructed to not charge my phone everyday and to let it run down to one bar. To be clear, I mentioned that I do not charge my phone everyday and I always let it run down.
So knowing I was not going to get anywhere with this, I asked the representative to please show me online where I could find the contract that explains the charges.
After 45 minutes, she was not able to find or show me anything on their corporate site explaining my original concerns.
And the difference between the length of the call on my phone and online was never answered.
Interesting.....
I wonder how much money the wireless companies make with this blatant error? Think about it, I am just one individual that they made 20 cents on.....now multiply that by thousands.....now you understand what I am talking about?
My next step was to contact the FCC and file a formal complaint. Lets see where this takes us.

Pay attention America, we the consumer are being ripped-off. Time to shout out and have our government work for us for a change!
I want answers.

Rip-offs, text messaging
Sending a text message costs the American consumer between 10 and 20 cents per text.
It costs the carriers one third of once cent to send the message! "OMG"...that just cost 20 cents!
So actually, the carriers are making PURE profit for something that really should cost pennies.
For more information on this please visit CNN/Money at http://money.cnn.com/galleries/2010/news/1001/gallery.americas_biggest_ripoffs/index.html

This is amazing to me. The carriers say they use the money for new technology. Would this new technology be something like an accounting program to keep track of the huge bonuses?

Haiti Nationals protective status
Haiti Nationals have special protective status.
"Also, a temporary protected status has been established for Haitian nationals who were in the United States as of the day of the earthquake.
U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano estimated that 100,000 to 200,000 Haitian nationals are in the United States illegally. The temporary status allows them to stay for 18 months, authorizing them to work and send remittances back to Haiti, she said last week."

Checked bag fees
American was the latest in raising their checked bag fees.
"Most major air carriers started adding checked-bag fees in 2008. The airlines reported collecting nearly $740 million in baggage fees in the third quarter of 2009, according to U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics." CNN
Now wait a minute, have they offered any more in service?
Did we not as tax payers bail them out after 9/11? That was just a horrible excuse for years of mismanagement.

Proposition 8
Proposition 8, anyone hear of this...?....lol....
Why do I ...LOL....I find it appalling that a discriminated group of individuals, all AMERICAN citizens, have to FIGHT for equal rights! This is soooo 1960's.
What happened to "We the People?"
Here are a few other things I find disturbing.
Why are the "individuals" that are so against equal marriage/rights want to make sure their names, organizations, etc. are not known?
Why would the Supreme court block a legal right by Americans to view the proceedings?
Why are "We the People" so afraid of "Equal Rights?"
Do "We the People" have to HATE some group, individual, organization, etc.?

AIG bailout a mess
AIG once again is in the news for not allowing the public to know all the details of the 180 billion dollar mess.
The instructions came at a time when Geithner, who is now the Treasury secretary, led the New York Fed. Iran bars co-operation with foreign groups
Iran blacklisted aprox. 60 groups which include the BBC, Voice of America and Human Rights Watch.
The official said the groups had helped incite post-election unrest.
This means for Iranians that should they come into contact with anyone in the 60 blacklisted groups, they will be arrested.
For the entire story please visit the BBC, http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/8441376.stm

Public option, what happened?
Where did the public option go? Why is something so important not being addressed?
Where will the compitition come from?
Oh, I forgot, the pharmacutical, insurance, and etc. lobby....Got it, you guys had more money to spend. Doesn't Conneticut have big insurance companies there? We can always ask Joe.

Home prices no gain in 10 years
The National Association of Realtors released a report that home prices are actually lower than 10 years ago!
"The median home price in November 1999 was $137,600, NAR said, and by November 2009 it had risen 25% to $172,600. But with cumulative effect of inflation, prices are actually 3% lower in real terms." cnnmoney.com http://money.cnn.com/2009/12/30/real_estate/prices_dropped_over_decade/index.htm?therealpantsdownblog=yes
...Now I find this very interesting. Why lower? This doesn't make sence. Oh, the Federal Reserve.

Mortgage Crisis and Foreclosures
Many more forclosures are going to happen before the real estate market picks up again.
Banks are foreclosing and NOT, I repeat, NOT changing the deed to reflect that THEY are the owners.
Why are the Banks doing this? If they foreclose on a property, are THEY not the owners of the property? Why are the banks not changing the ownership?

Wall Street Bonus Payouts
The Wall Street bonus payouts for the 2009 year are coming out. I wonder if this will be hushed up? It is amazing to me that we are in a great recession and the taxpayers just bailed out the "Big Boys" and again they do not get it.
How does 20 billion in Wall Street bonus payments sound to you?
Need more information on this? Go to the article in Money magazine http://money.cnn.com/2009/12/30/news/economy/bonuses.fortune/index.htm?cnn=yes
